Agartala: Contractors working for the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited launched an indefinite strike today. The walkout began at Circle-1 in Agartala. It will soon spread to every circle across the state.

Workers claim three years of neglect. Bills submitted before last year's Durga Puja remain unpaid. They cannot pay their laborers or support their own families. One contractor said, "We work in scorching sun and heavy rain for the public, but when it comes to our payments, we are left waiting endlessly."

The Association previously halted a protest following promises from the General Manager and the Power Minister. Nothing changed. Members have written to the Managing Director over ten times without a proper response. They accuse the MD office of acting in an autocratic manner by only paying select contractors.

Appeals to the Chief Minister, Power Minister, and Chief Secretary yielded no results. The contractors maintain they have no other choice. Electricity services across Tripura now face potential disruption.
