Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha opened the state’s first hospital run by the Agartala Municipal Corporation on Sunday. The 50-bed facility sits in the Jackson Gate area and cost 20.37 crore rupees to build. It signals a move to bring better medical care directly to city residents.

Saha spoke at the opening event. He shared his vision for the state's medical future. "আজকের দিনটি আগরতলা সহ সমগ্র ত্রিপুরার জনস্বাস্থ্য ব্যবস্থায় এক ঐতিহাসিক মাইলফলক হয়ে থাকবে," Saha said. The Health and Family Welfare Department will provide support to ensure the facility runs smoothly.

The hospital offers standard care along with evening clinics. Every single bed features a dedicated oxygen supply. This addition aims to improve treatment options for patients in critical condition. It boosts the region's overall infrastructure.

Saha views this project as a test. If the numbers look good, the government will replicate this model in other urban areas across the state. Officials are currently building an integrated system to upgrade medical delivery at the primary care level.
