Agartala: Tripura SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das has called for the appointment of dedicated officers at the subdivision and block levels to improve the delivery of welfare programs. During a meeting with SC Welfare Sub-Committee chairmen in Agartala, the minister confirmed that a formal proposal has been submitted to the Finance Department to create the necessary manpower for these field roles.

Addressing the importance of administrative efficiency, Das emphasized that subcommittee chairmen must have a deep understanding of departmental schemes. He noted that a primary objective is streamlining the approval and processing of SC certificates. Currently, these certificates are issued by Sub-Divisional Magistrates following recommendations from the State Level Scrutiny Committee.

Das stated, "The government needs your cooperation to take forward development and welfare activities for the SC community." He also highlighted ongoing efforts to ensure the 17 percent reservation roster is strictly maintained, citing previous issues during the LF government period where improper handling of reservation matters led to job losses.

To support the work of these sub-committees, the government has set a sitting allowance of Rs 1,000 for members and Rs 3,000 for chairmen. The minister urged the members to maintain open lines of communication with extension officers to resolve individual grievances. The department also plans to secure additional funding for awareness campaigns to better reach the community in the coming year.
