Agartala: Tripura schools must now open every day with a full rendition of the national song, Vande Mataram. The national anthem, Jan-Gana-Mana, will immediately follow the song. The state government issued this mandate on July 3, 2026.

This rule applies to every institution in the state. It covers government, government-aided, and private schools. Even unaided madrassas must comply. The order stems from a directive sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs earlier this year on January 28. The Tripura Council of Ministers signed off on the plan on June 25.

Rajib Datta, Additional Secretary to the government, signed the notification. Officials expect students and staff to show proper respect. The department wants to boost patriotism and maintain order. The order states: "whenever the National Song is sung or played, all students, teachers, and administrative staff must stand in attention as a mark of respect." Everyone must stand tall.
