Agartala: Tripura locked in massive investment commitments hitting Rs 1.21 lakh crore. The state signed 342 agreements during the Tripura Destination Business Conclave held in Agartala. Heavy rain failed to stop the crowds. About 2,000 delegates from 1,200 firms showed up to talk shop.

Big names hit the ground running. Google, ITC, L&T, MRF, and Salesforce inked deals alongside international players from Dubai and Canada. Ambassadors from 10 countries joined representatives from 11 nations, including the Japan Trade Organisation, to scout the area. Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte said the event was a major win. He noted, "The event marked a significant milestone in the state's efforts to attract domestic and international investments."

Cash flowed into diverse sectors. The Power Department led the pack with Rs 31,080 crore, followed closely by the Industries and Commerce Department at Rs 30,000 crore. IT firms committed Rs 13,248 crore through 43 separate deals. Urban Development grabbed Rs 16,700 crore, while the Tourism Department pulled in Rs 12,303 crore. The Health Department settled for 8 deals worth Rs 4,000 crore.

Smaller players got a look in too. Roughly 300 local startups set up shop to pitch their ideas to the big money. New pacts cover everything from bamboo development to fisheries and transport. Gitte pointed out the state's GDP doubled over six years. The government claims recent reforms keep the momentum moving for the Northeast.
