Agartala: Tripura locked in Rs 1.21 lakh crore in investment pledges this week. The state signed 342 agreements during the Tripura Destination Business Conclave 2026. The two-day event wrapped up Friday. It drew 2,000 investors from across the country and abroad.
Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte confirmed that 45 domestic and international firms made commitments. Diplomats from 11 countries, including representatives from the Japan Trade Organisation, attended the meetings. Gitte said, "The conclave underscored the state government's sustained efforts to position Tripura as an investment destination."
The power sector topped the list with Rs 31,080 crore in proposed projects. The industries and commerce department followed close behind with 110 agreements worth Rs 30,000 crore. Urban development projects brought in another Rs 16,700 crore, while tourism secured Rs 12,303 crore. IT firms committed Rs 13,248 crore across 43 separate deals.
State officials pushed hard for these results. They held private meetings with potential backers to sell the local market. Despite heavy rain, 300 local startups joined the event. Tripura's GSDP has doubled in six years. Officials credit recent business reforms for this jump in interest.
