Tripura Governor Demands Unified Front Against Drug Crisis

Agartala: Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu issued a call on July 18 for a statewide fight against substance abuse. He spoke at a workshop inside the Maharaja Bir Bikram College auditorium to tackle what he labeled a major economic and moral threat. The Department of Social Welfare and Social Education hosted the event.

Nallu linked drug addiction directly to rising crime and domestic violence. He framed the issue as a fight for the nation's future. The Governor referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of a drug-free India. During the event, he invoked the Prime Minister's Mann Ki Baat address, stating drugs bring the "Three Ds" to society: Darkness, Destruction and Devastation.

The state faces risks due to its long international border. Nallu praised the Border Security Force, Assam Rifles, Indian Army, Tripura State Rifles, and Tripura Police for their work on the front lines against trafficking. He warned that criminals are actively targeting young people with narcotics.

Government efforts need public support. Nallu reached out to parents, teachers, and religious leaders to join the campaign. He believes the state can only stop this menace if everyone works together.
