Guwahati: Barpeta District Commissioner Nabadeep Pathak met with local officials on September 30 to lock down security plans for the upcoming Durga Puja. The session included Senior Superintendent of Police Sushanta Biswa Sarma, alongside various circle officers, block development heads, and additional district administrators. They are moving to prevent accidents and keep the peace.
Pathak hammered the Public Works Department on infrastructure. He ordered crews to finish all pending road repairs immediately to cut down on traffic jams and potential wrecks. The administration expects the roads to be ready before the crowds arrive.
Safety protocols remain the priority. The administration mandated that puja committees install CCTV cameras and maintain functional fire safety gear at every pandal. Pathak said, "The administration directed puja committees to install CCTV cameras, arrange sufficient fire safety equipment and deploy volunteers to manage crowds."
Organizers must follow strict rules to keep the festivities under control. This includes staying within noise limits, maintaining sanitation, and sticking to official routes and times for idol immersion. Officials called for total cooperation among government branches and local committees to ensure the events run without a single disruption.
