Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha wants no surprises when the rains hit. He chaired a high-level meeting at the Agartala War Room to tighten up flood management plans. Officials must act now to cut down on damage. Prevention beats reaction.
Saha pointed to the state's 2024 flood disaster as a wake-up call. "Learning from the devastating floods that affected Tripura in 2024, every department, district administration, and concerned organisation must ensure comprehensive preparedness before the arrival of the monsoon," he said. He ordered staff to map out areas prone to waterlogging and fix them permanently.
Rescue gear and shelters need to stay ready. These sites require power, food, water, and sanitation. The Chief Minister also ordered security teams to patrol flood zones to keep property safe from theft. Officials must watch over the elderly, children, and the sick during any emergency.
The plan extends to livestock and public health. Departments must clear drains and watch river embankments constantly. Medical kits need stocks of antibiotics, paracetamol, and snakebite medicine. Every district must keep enough food and fuel on hand to prevent shortages when the water rises.
