Agartala: Tipra Motha MLA Paul Dangshu is fighting back after the Tripura Legislative Assembly rejected his submissions for the upcoming Monsoon Session. The session starts August 27. Dangshu wants to know why the administration silenced questions that cross community and caste lines.
He argues these inquiries aim to boost government accountability and push for systemic change. The rejected list includes a request for a Uniform Transfer Policy for state employees. He also pushed for a plan to fix the shortage of teachers in elementary and secondary schools. Another blocked query sought hard data on residential and agricultural land pattas issued across all districts and subdivisions over the last five years.
The assembly also blocked his query regarding the Tiprasa Accord 2024. This tripartite agreement involves the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and TIPRA Motha. It focuses on the rights and development of the Indigenous Tiprasa community. Dangshu claims the silence on these topics hurts public trust. He noted, "Elected representatives must be given an opportunity to raise issues concerning public welfare and government accountability."
Legislators have a job to do. They represent the voters who put them there. Dangshu expects the democratic process to function by providing clear answers on governance. He insists officials must stop prioritizing political affiliations over the public good.
