Agartala: TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma has publicly criticized Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for his silence on critical state issues. Debbarma highlighted the contrast between Saha’s approach and that of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who recently engaged with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address the Inner Line Permit system during the North Eastern Council plenary session.
Debbarma expressed concern over the lack of government discourse regarding the influx of illegal migrants from Bangladesh into Tripura. He argued that the state government has failed to advocate for language development, the implementation of the Inner Line Permit, or the welfare of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
The legislator specifically faulted the Chief Minister for failing to prioritize legislative reforms intended to support tribal areas. "There has been no mention of the proposed 125 amendment bills aimed at strengthening the TTAADC. Even in his public communications, including social media posts, the Chief Minister has remained silent on these pressing matters," Debbarma stated.
Debbarma urged the state leadership to adopt a more proactive stance in safeguarding indigenous interests. He warned that ignoring issues like illegal migration and the empowerment of the TTAADC could undermine the long-term socio-political stability of the state.
