Imphal: The Tangkhul Naga Long has launched a 24-hour total shutdown across its jurisdiction in Manipur's Ukhrul district. The protest, which began at 7 pm on June 8, follows a resolution from a recent joint coordination meeting.

This action aims to force the immediate removal of an Assam Rifles outpost positioned at New Heaven along National Highway-202. The organization also demands legal accountability for army personnel accused of using excessive force against women protesters during demonstrations in New Heaven, Shokvao, and Finch Corner. According to the organization, the shutdown is intended to seek "appropriate criminal action against the personnel involved in the alleged use of force" while repeating calls for the base to be removed.

To minimize public impact, the group confirmed that essential services will remain operational throughout the protest period. Medical services, water supply, electricity, and media activities are exempt from the shutdown. Authorities have yet to provide an official response to these demands as tensions continue to rise between local residents and security forces.
