Guwahati: Students at Darrang College organized a protest on May 26 to voice frustration over the lack of clear guidelines for the fourth year of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme. The demonstrators, led by the college students' union, gathered outside the campus and blocked a local road to demand immediate answers from education authorities.

The agitation included the burning of an effigy representing Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Students expressed deep concern that the absence of notifications regarding the seventh and eighth semesters has left their academic futures in jeopardy. Participants noted that students who did not take the CUET examination are particularly worried about their eligibility to continue their higher education.

Protesters warned that they will launch more aggressive demonstrations if the government does not provide a definitive policy soon. Supporting the students, the All Assam Students' Union submitted a formal memorandum to the college principal. They urged the administration to address the confusion immediately and ensure that all students have a clear path to complete their degrees.
