Kohima: St Joseph University held the 6th Historia Diem in Chümoukedima on September 8. The Heritage Club and the Department of History hosted the event at the campus auditorium. It drew 140 students and faculty.
Keynote speaker Dr. Yilobemo from ICFAI University challenged students to protect their heritage. He pushed for keeping positive cultural values while dumping regressive ones. He noted that emerging fields like food culture history offer new ways to document the past. "Cultural heritage forms the bedrock of personal and community identity," he said.
Lituna Shohe opened with an invocation. Thinosalie Rino delivered the welcome address. Benzathung Ezung chaired the session. Longam and various undergraduates provided music and dance. Longyan offered the vote of thanks, and Azhowe-U Kapfo led the closing prayer. Assistant Professor K Hokato Sumi coordinated the day.
Epithung and Shishi led the informal segment. Competitions spanned folk drama, songs, and traditional showcases. Postgraduate Semester III students won both the folk drama and folk song categories. Undergraduate Semester I students took first place in the traditional showcase. Ariena Moa Changkiri of Postgraduate Semester I won the individual heritage display category.
