Kohima: MY Bharat organized a Neighbourhood Youth Parliament on October 16 at Government Higher Secondary School in Singrijan. The event focused on the theme Nasha Mukt Yuva, or drug-free youth. It was a joint effort with the Department of Social Welfare and the district administration of Chümoukedima. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports backed the initiative.

District Youth Officer K. Manikanta warned students about the dangers of addiction. Curiosity and peer pressure drive this crisis. He noted the severe impact on health and education. The officer pushed the students to take a stand. He urged them to make responsible choices and embrace the message, “Say Yes to Life, Say No to Drugs.”

Chief guest Akehto Chiso, ACPCMD, detailed the risks of heroin, cannabis, opioids, and synthetic drugs. He laid out the legal consequences found in the NDPS Act of 1985. Chiso stressed that recovery requires medical treatment, family support, and rehabilitation. The program also outlined how the Narco Coordination Centre Committee improves how law enforcement and agencies tackle drug prevention.

DPO Kevineinuo Rio led a drug-free pledge at the event. Participants received prizes from the guests. Principal P. Aienla Longkumer welcomed the crowd. Menguvilie Kense offered the invocation, and Hitolu Swu delivered the closing vote of thanks. The organizers aim to build a drug-free society aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
