Kohima: Ao civil society and youth groups banded together on October 9 at a farmhouse in Chümoukedima. They met with veteran Naga leader Dr. S.C. Jamir to confirm their commitment to unity and discipline. The Ao Youth Organisation of Chümoukedima hosted the event, drawing attendees from Dimapur, Niuland, Medziphema, Diphupar, Foothill, and Aoyim.
The groups formally resolved to start the Western Ao Youth Front. This new body will link youth organizations across the Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland districts to improve regional coordination. They also backed a recent mandate from the Ao Senden leadership regarding controversial comments from V.S. Atem and R.H. Raising. The meeting reinforced a call for public leaders to exhibit, "discipline, fortitude, humility and wisdom in the interest of unity and mutual respect."
The participants plan to monitor the political situation closely. They reserved the right to act if necessary. Additionally, the assembly endorsed the Naga Youth Movement in its push for an early and honorable peace deal. They urged the Government of India to finalize an inclusive settlement to bring stability to the region.
Eight major organizations signed the joint resolution. These included the Ao Senso Telongjems of Chümoukedima and Dimapur, alongside youth groups from Aoyim, Diphupar, Foothill, Medziphema, and the Ao Youth Organisation of Chümoukedima and Dimapur. The session finished with a pledge to keep working for the welfare of the Ao people.
