Guwahati: Kumar Jeet, a prominent businessman and social activist based in Silchar, has filed a formal police complaint against a local private diagnostic laboratory. He alleges the facility issued an erroneous report claiming his kidneys were damaged, an assertion he describes as the cause of severe mental anguish.
The ordeal began after a routine screening at the facility suggested significant kidney abnormalities. Suspicious of the results, Jeet sought a second opinion at a reputable hospital. These subsequent tests confirmed his kidneys were functioning normally, contradicting the laboratory's findings. Jeet noted that he undergoes regular check-ups every three months in New Delhi and has consistently received clear reports regarding his health.
The impact of the false report was immediate. Jeet stated, "I was unable to eat or drink properly for nearly 24 hours after learning of the findings." He reported that his attempt to resolve the matter with laboratory staff was met with an unsatisfactory response, prompting him to pursue legal action.
Jeet has filed an FIR at the Rangirkhari Police Station, demanding an investigation into the facility's operations. He argues that such medical negligence can have devastating consequences for patients and their families. At this time, the diagnostic laboratory has not issued a public response to the allegations.
