Sikkim Officials Join Regional Review Meeting on Animal Husbandry and Fisheries in Mizoram

Gangtok: A delegation from Sikkim recently participated in the Regional Review Meeting for the North East Region held in Aizawl. The event took place at the High Court Hall on May 25 and focused on advancing the fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairy sectors across northeastern states.

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh presided over the meeting alongside Minister of State George Kurian. Senior central officials, including secretaries from the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, were also present to lead discussions on current developmental activities and key industry challenges.

Sikkim's team was led by Dr. Sharman Rai, secretary of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, and Roshni Rai, secretary of the Fisheries Department. They were joined by state officials Dr. Pem T. Bhutia, Dr. Pratik Sharma, and Surendra Bhandari. During the proceedings, the delegation presented updates on Sikkim's ongoing projects, achievements, and future proposals designed to enhance local livestock and dairy infrastructure.

The meeting served as a strategic platform for regional coordination. Attendees reviewed the progress of various centrally sponsored schemes to ensure the effective implementation of government programs across the North East.
