Gangtok: Sikkim MP Indra Hang Subba met Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan in New Delhi to press for faster construction of a key border road. The project connects the Nambu Border Outpost to Hanspokhri. It is a vital link for military logistics and operational readiness along the India-Nepal border.

Subba also brought up the stalled reservation of Assembly seats for the Limboo and Tamang communities. These groups hit the Scheduled Tribes list back in 2003. They remain without political representation in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly today. Subba admitted the issue is political but demanded to know what steps the central government is taking to move it forward.

The MP also demanded better pay for troops. He pushed for the Risk and Hardship Allowance for members of the 36th and 72nd Battalions of the Sashastra Seema Bal. These soldiers face brutal conditions in high-altitude and glacial regions. According to a statement issued by his office, the memorandum sought "enhanced infrastructure and welfare measures for border personnel while reiterating the long-standing aspirations of the Limboo and Tamang communities for legislative representation."
