Gangtok: Tshering Choden conquered Mount Elbrus on Sunday. The Sikkim mountaineer reached the 5,642-metre summit at 7.30 am local time, clearing the highest peak in Europe. This marks her second win in the Seven Summits challenge.
She needs to scale the tallest mountain on every continent to finish the goal. Choden previously climbed Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro in August 2025. Two peaks down. Five to go.
The Sikkim Mountaineering Association confirmed the climb this week. The group noted how the feat showcases her grit, stating the achievement highlights "Choden’s perseverance and endurance in high-altitude climbing" while inspiring a new generation of local athletes to take up the sport.
