Gangtok: Sikkim Futsal League 2026 ignited in Gangtok today. The opening ceremony at GMC Futsal Arena marked a major push for the sport. Ten teams will battle for the trophy.
Soreng-Chakung MLA Aditya Golay served as the chief guest for the kickoff. He stood alongside SFA General Secretary Phurba Sherpa and entrepreneur Chumki Doma Bhutia. Golay opened the event by introducing squads and officials to a loud crowd. He said the event is a "milestone in the growth of futsal in the state."
Six teams hit the pitch for the opening round. Deorali FC hammered Brothers FC 7-2. Ultimate Football Club crushed Timeless Titans 8-2. Risers FC took on Feeru FC Chandmarie to close out the day. These games follow strict FIFA regulations.
Organizers credit government departments and local partners for the backing. Sponsors include the Forest and Environment Department, Central Referral Hospital, and Sikkim Milk Union. The league continues on June 28. Bayul FC plays SBI United FC Sikkim. ASDEA squares off against Toffees FC.
