Sikkim BJP Pushes Central Government for Tourism Funding

Gangtok: Sikkim BJP president D.R. Thapa led a delegation to New Delhi on Wednesday to press the central government for more tourism funding. They met with Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to discuss the Himalayan state’s growth. Business is booming. The team reported a record influx of travelers and highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit put the state on the map for visitors.

Thapa told the minister that tourism serves as a primary source of income for local families. He pushed for federal cash to build better roads and facilities. The delegation asked for help promoting new locations and creating sustainable plans to handle the crush of guests. They need smart strategies to keep the industry running.

Minister Shekhawat recognized the state’s massive potential. He promised that the Centre would back projects meant to improve infrastructure. According to the party statement, the minister “appreciated Sikkim’s vast tourism potential and assured the delegation of the Centre’s continued support for initiatives aimed at promoting tourism and improving related infrastructure in the Himalayan state.”
