Security Forces Seize Arms and Drugs in Manipur Operations

Imphal: Security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and explosives on May 20, 2026, in the Tengnoupal district. The items, found between border pillars 72 and 73 near the Moreh Police Station, included an SLR rifle, a 9 mm pistol, four radio sets, and four improvised explosive devices. Authorities destroyed the explosives at the scene.

In related law enforcement actions, police conducted two separate operations involving drug seizures. Officers in the Churachandpur district arrested 31-year-old Myanmar national Khupsiankhai Vualnam and 34-year-old Doukhanlal Thangsing along National Highway 102B. Police recovered a motorcycle and 55 soap cases containing approximately 2.127 kilograms of suspected brown sugar from the pair.

Separately, police at the Irilbung check gate in Imphal East apprehended two local men, 20-year-old Yambem Sudhir Singh and 26-year-old Thongam Bishal Singh. Officers seized 3.3 kilograms of suspected raw ganja during a routine vehicle inspection. All suspects remain in custody as the investigations continue.
