Imphal: Manipur Police launched an extensive 36-hour operation that dismantled 61 illegal bunkers and cleared numerous unauthorized checkpoints across the state's hill and valley districts. Nearly 6,000 security personnel participated in these coordinated search and area-domination exercises to curb armed activity and improve public safety.

A significant portion of the effort focused on the Leimakhong area within the Kangpokpi district, specifically around Leilon Vaiphei, Leilon Khunou, L. Munlui, and Konsakhul villages. Authorities destroyed 30 fortified structures and outposts in this region alone. The sweeps also led to the seizure of eleven 12-bore guns, 294 rounds of ammunition, gunpowder, and bulletproof jackets. Four individuals were detained during the raids and remain under official verification.

These actions build on earlier security drives, including the destruction of 26 bunkers in Ukhrul district on June 16 and several more in the Saikul and Churachandpur regions. Officials stated that these measures are critical to the state's broader mission of suppressing violence. According to the Manipur Police morning bulletin, the operations are part of an ongoing effort to restore normalcy and strengthen law and order by removing illegal fortified structures and checkpoints established in conflict-prone regions.

Security leadership confirmed that these targeted operations will continue in vulnerable areas to prevent further armed activities. The ongoing crackdown aims to stabilize the region following tensions between various groups.
