Security Forces Arrest Two Insurgent Cadres in Manipur

Imphal: Security forces arrested two active members of different insurgent groups during separate operations in Manipur's Imphal East district on June 16. Officials confirmed the arrests are part of ongoing counter-insurgency measures within the state.

The first operation occurred in the Kongba Laishram Leikai area under the jurisdiction of the Porompat Police Station. Authorities apprehended 18-year-old Heikrujam Hitler Meitei, also known as Rishi, a resident of Bishnupur district linked to the KCP (MFL).

A second arrest took place on the same day in the Kongpal Iranpham Thongkhong area. Officers captured 42-year-old Loukrakpam Ibungo Meitei, alias John, who is a resident of Imphal West district and an active member of SOREPA.

Regarding the status of the detainees, officials stated, "Further investigation and necessary legal procedures are underway."
