Imphal: Manipur Police have deployed massive security operations across the Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Thoubal districts in response to a recent wave of armed conflict. The state has implemented widespread combing and area domination tactics to stabilize the region and restore public safety.

A significant confrontation occurred on June 16 when Indian Army and Assam Rifles personnel intercepted suspected militants between Molphei and Songkong villages. Acting on intelligence, troops moved into the area and were met with gunfire. During the ensuing exchange, security forces killed one militant and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, explosives, and other materials. Manipur Police confirmed that a case has been registered and the investigation is ongoing.

To prevent further unrest, combined teams of security forces are conducting cordon-and-search operations throughout vulnerable sectors. Authorities have also established checkpoints at key transit points to restrict the movement of armed actors. According to the Manipur Police, "The Director General of Police, Manipur, is personally monitoring the ongoing combing and area domination operations aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of residents."
