Security Forces Arrest 10 Insurgents in Manipur Anti-Extortion Operations

Imphal: Security forces and Manipur Police apprehended 10 members of two banned insurgent groups during coordinated operations across the valley districts on Thursday. The arrests targeted individuals linked to the Kangleipak Communist Party and the Revolutionary People’s Front, which serves as the political wing of the People’s Liberation Army.

Authorities stated that the suspects were allegedly involved in illegal arms supply, extortion, and the planting of hand grenades throughout the region. Officials noted that the operation aimed to curb ongoing criminal activities carried out by these proscribed organizations.

In Kakching district, security forces captured four active members of the KCP (MFL). They were identified as Moirangthem Tondomba Singh, Wahengbam Inao Singh, Nongmaithem David Meitei, and Maibam Lokendro Singh. A separate sweep in Imphal East district led to the arrest of four KCP (PWG) cadres, while a fifth member of the same faction was taken into custody in Bishnupur.

Arambam Sanayaima Meitei, identified as an active cadre of the RPF, was also apprehended by security forces in the Lamlai area of Imphal East. Police confirmed that "further investigation is underway" as they process the evidence collected during these raids.
