Guwahati: A search operation is now hitting the dense woods of the Dima Hasao district. Twenty-three Forest Department employees from the Maibang Division vanished while patrolling the Nagaland border. The group includes two Range Officers, one Assistant Range Officer, and 20 Foresters and Forest Guards.
The team headed out on July 23. They aimed to survey the Langting, Maibang, and Khepre areas. Their final check-in with departmental authorities occurred on the evening of July 24. Since then, silence. Their mobile phones are either off or stuck in dead zones.
Rescuers are fanning out across the remote terrain. Assam Police, Assam Rifles, and Forest Department officials have teamed up to find the missing men. The situation is tense. If the team remains untraceable by Sunday morning, the department may deploy a helicopter to expand the search. Authorities noted that "search efforts are continuing, and further details are awaited." The Forest Department has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
