Search underway after man goes missing near Assam-Bangladesh border

Guwahati: A 28-year-old man has gone missing in the Cachar district of Assam, triggering significant tension and security concerns along the border with Bangladesh. Ranjit Das, a resident of Narsinghpur in the Rajtilak area, disappeared on Tuesday morning after leaving his home to cut grass.

When Das failed to return, his family and local villagers initiated an immediate search of the area. Amid the growing uncertainty, residents have leveled serious accusations regarding his disappearance. Local villagers have alleged that "Das was taken across the border by Bangladeshi miscreants," though these claims remain unverified by law enforcement officials.

The incident has caused widespread anxiety throughout the Katigorah border belt. Family members of the missing man have formally requested that the police and local administration take urgent action to locate him and ensure his safe return.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the case. A formal investigation is expected to begin shortly to determine the circumstances behind the disappearance and to address the security concerns raised by the local community.
