Imphal: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) has issued a firm denial regarding recent allegations that linked the organization to the detention of civilians near Mount Everest College. Vice President M.K. Jacob Digabou described the claims as entirely baseless and misleading, asserting that neither the association nor its members were involved in stopping or holding individuals at the site. The organization claims that other groups have already taken responsibility for the incident, and they view these accusations as a coordinated attempt to damage their reputation.
To address the situation, the SDSA has expressed full support for an impartial and independent investigation to uncover the facts. The organization confirmed that it has already filed an FIR regarding the defamatory nature of the accusations. Digabou emphasized that the SDSA maintains a strict, independent mandate and has no operational ties to groups like the Naga Village Volunteers Northern Command or the Tahamzam Youth Forum, despite recent speculation to the contrary.
The SDSA also took aim at the Principal of Young Pillars College, criticizing the decision to voice serious allegations without conducting proper verification. Digabou expressed concern that such rhetoric from educated figures exacerbates local tensions. Urging the public to practice restraint, the association warned against spreading unverified rumors on social media that could endanger civilians. They remain committed to the legal process and expect those responsible for spreading misinformation to be held accountable through the ongoing investigation.
