Guwahati: The 5th Film Appreciation Course, hosted at CKB Commerce College in Jorhat, has secured two prominent figures in Indian cinema for its upcoming session. Sound designer Amrit Pritam and filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar are scheduled to lead the program from July 5 to July 11.

Amrit Pritam, a Golden Reel Award recipient known for his innovative contributions to cinematic sound, joins the faculty as a special resource person. His participation aims to provide attendees with a technical understanding of how sound shapes storytelling and film aesthetics. The course organizers highlighted his influence, stating that his "work has earned recognition across national and international platforms."

Joining him is Haobam Paban Kumar, a filmmaker from Manipur celebrated for his socially conscious cinema. His debut feature, Loktak Lairembee, gained national prominence for its exploration of environmental themes and secured a National Film Award in 2017. His expertise will offer students a perspective on the artistic and cultural potential of independent filmmaking.

These guest speakers will work alongside program director Dr. Pranjal Borah and veteran festival curator Premendra Mazumdar. The event is a collaborative effort between the People’s Alliance for Change and Empowerment, the Assam Film Society, the Federation of Film Societies of India, and the CKB Commerce College Film Society. By bringing together diverse practitioners, the initiative seeks to foster a deeper engagement with film as a medium for social change and artistic expression.
