Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is pushing local farmers and business owners to secure federal funding. He promoted the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and the PMFME scheme on social media. These programs aim to boost food processing across the state.

The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund provides low-interest loans reaching Rs 2 crore. Borrowers also get a 3% interest subvention. It is a massive financial incentive. Meanwhile, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme offers a 35% capital subsidy.

Individual enterprises can grab assistance up to Rs 10 lakh. Larger groups developing common infrastructure can claim up to Rs 3 crore. Sarma urged qualified groups to act now. He wants them to "utilise the opportunity to expand their businesses and strengthen food-processing and agricultural infrastructure."
