Guwahati: Filmmaker Champak Deka is heading to Kolkata. His documentary, She Will Never Wake Up, earned a spot in the 2026 Swami Vivekananda International Film Festival. The event runs from September 4 to 12.
Deka lives in Mayong and works as a nature enthusiast. His film documents raw stories from the wilderness. It pulls from real experience rather than human-made scripts. The project aims to rattle set assumptions about the natural world.
"The documentary presents a unique story created by nature itself in the wilderness," the production notes state. Deka joins a list of directors from across India and the globe. This festival inclusion puts his work on an international stage.
