Kohima: The Provisional Government of the NSCN is tracking a Hebron-based delegation led by Maj. Gen. (retd.) Ramkathing Varah as they travel through Eastern Nagalim. This group claims to be on a peace and reconciliation mission involving NSCN-K factions under Ang Mai and Yung Aung. Angyo Jacob Tangshang Naga, the political co-ordinator for the Provisional Government, said the group is watching these movements with extreme suspicion.
The Provisional Government claims the Hebron faction lost its credibility on January 2, 2020. That was when they submitted competencies that allegedly abandoned long-standing Naga principles. The Provisional Government argues that peace should not serve as a tool to expand political influence. They insist that no single faction holds the mandate to change the national position or accept limitations imposed by New Delhi. The group stated, "Eastern Nagalim was not a political vacuum" and refused to let outsiders dictate terms under the mask of reconciliation.
Tensions remain high following the March 28, 2026, killings at Hongpei village. The Provisional Government blames the Hebron group for the deaths of four cadres: Maj. Sochipem Phungshok, Sgt. Maj. Zairei, Sgt. Bahnle Ahlahpyah, and Sgt. Thansomi Vashi. They claim they never received a satisfactory explanation for these casualties. The Provisional Government now warns all national workers to stay alert. They maintain that any attempt to destabilize Eastern Nagalim will face resistance.
