Guwahati: The Public Relations Council of India, Guwahati Chapter, recently held a national webinar titled The Psychology of the Scroll. The virtual event brought together nearly 50 industry professionals, academics, and students to examine shifting audience mindsets across various social media platforms.

Communication specialist Gaurav Gautam Saha opened the discussion by detailing how platform-specific dynamics on X, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn dictate content consumption. He explored the mechanics of digital habits like doomscrolling and how algorithms influence modern engagement.

Rajshree Goswami, Joint Secretary of the Guwahati Chapter, addressed the integration of Artificial Intelligence in content strategy. She focused on how emerging tools are redefining audience targeting and the broader management of social media channels.

The concluding session featured Subhankar Banerjee, the chapter chairperson and founder of Seven Sense Communications. He compared traditional mass communication models with current digital strategies, noting that human elements remain essential. Banerjee stated, "Despite rapid technological changes, authentic storytelling and emotional connection remain central to effective communication."

This event is part of a broader push by the organization to prepare communicators for an industry driven by emerging technology. Beyond professional development, the Guwahati Chapter is actively engaging the next generation through new Young Communicators Clubs established at Assam Don Bosco University and Girijananda Choudhury University.
