Agartala: Tipra Motha Party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman announced on Sunday that he is quitting active politics. He wants a simple life. During a 45-minute social media livestream, he explained his decision to step back from his leadership role. He described himself as exhausted by the current political environment.
Debbarman expressed frustration with people using his career for their own gain. He insists that his primary focus remains securing rights for his people. He told followers, "I don't want to do politics anymore." He also promised that no communal conflict will occur in Tripura while his enemies are dealt with.
The leader criticized how politics infects village life. He suggested that holding local elections without party symbols would prevent societal division. Regarding his party's future, he argued that winning 500 Village Committees is pointless without the formal implementation of the pending accord.
He noted that the Chief Minister finally promised to roll out the accord in a time-bound manner. Debbarman signaled he would respect this commitment for now. However, he warned that if the center and state fail to act, he is prepared to walk away. He also hit back at critics who spread rumors about him accepting money for seat-sharing deals, calling the claims baseless.
