Guwahati: A joint team of Hailakandi Police, Cachar Police, and the 38 Assam Rifles hit a major haul at the Lakhirband Bypass. They recovered 30,000 Yaba tablets weighing over three kilograms. The stash is worth roughly Rs 1.3 crore on the street.

Security forces moved in after getting a tip. They arrested 50-year-old Karim Uddin from Dholai. Police now have him in custody. He is currently facing intense questioning about his ties to a wider drug trafficking network.

Investigators are tracing the drugs to find out where they came from and where they were headed. They want to put other members of the racket behind bars. Police called the bust a major win for their anti-narcotics drive, noting that "enforcement agencies would continue to intensify operations to curb drug trafficking in the border region." The investigation remains active.
