Guwahati: Cachar police seized a massive load of Indian urea fertiliser on Tuesday. Officers stopped a suspicious truck at a routine checkpoint along the Assam-Mizoram border. The vehicle, registered as AS11FC2926, fell under the Dholai Police Station jurisdiction. Lailapur Police Patrol Outpost personnel conducted the stop.

A search revealed 160 sacks of fertiliser hidden beneath other cargo. Each sack weighed over 45 kilograms. Officer-in-Charge Shubhajit Dutta oversaw the operation. Police took the haul and the truck into custody. Independent witnesses watched the process. These included local union heads and panchayat representatives.

Authorities are now hunting for the origin and destination of the illicit shipment. "Necessary legal action has been initiated in accordance with the law," police added. Officers continue to investigate the case.
