Police recover body of missing fisherman in East Khasi Hills

Shillong: Search teams pulled the body of Mordar Kurkalang from the Weidingwah stream at 12 Mile on Monday. The resident of 12 Mile Umlympung had been missing for two weeks. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed the man vanished shortly after heading out to fish.

The State Disaster Response Team assisted police officers in the recovery effort. Authorities registered an unnatural death case to handle the legal formalities. Police remain on the scene while processing the final details.

Family members do not believe anyone harmed him. They asked officials to skip the standard medical investigation into his death. The SP noted, "The family members do not suspect foul play and have sought an exemption from a post-mortem examination." Officials continue to manage the case.
