Police Escorts Resume Supply Truck Movement into Manipur

Guwahati: Police began escorting supply trucks into Manipur on Monday morning. Hundreds of vehicles started moving again after a standoff left them stranded at the Assam-Manipur border for days. The gridlock choked off food and essential goods for the state.

Drivers and helpers spent days trapped without food, clean water, or medical help. Many scavenged water from hill streams to stay alive. The delay forced perishable items to rot inside stifling trailers. "Drivers said the uncertainty had also taken a mental and economic toll on those stranded."

Transporters suffered heavy financial losses while waiting for a clear path. Authorities finally stepped in to secure the route. Police now guard the convoy to prevent attacks and get shipments moving. Officials hope this move restores the broken supply chain.
