Guwahati: Police in Assam arrested three Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday during a routine inspection at the Digar Khal checkpoint in the Gumrah area of Cachar district. The detainees, identified as Reena Akhtar, Mohammad Awal, and Mohammad Harun, were intercepted by officers following a tip-off about their movements.

Authorities stated that the trio entered India illegally in 2012 and had been residing in various regions across the country. They recently arrived in Badarpur after traveling from Bengaluru on the Humsafar Express. Investigators believe the group intended to cross into Bangladesh through the Umkiang border in Meghalaya with the assistance of a broker.

While the three individuals were taken into custody, the suspected broker evaded capture and remains at large. Police have launched a search operation to locate the suspect and are continuing to interrogate the detainees as the investigation proceeds.
