Police Arrest Assam Labourer Following Viral Stalking Incident

Itanagar: Police arrested 26-year-old Imdadul Rahman in Assam for allegedly stalking and sexually harassing a woman in Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh. The arrest follows a video of the incident that went viral online.

The attack happened June 9. The victim was walking to computer classes in Rayo Colony when Rahman followed her. He touched her inappropriately and exposed himself. The woman fought back. She threw stones at him, forcing the attacker to run away.

Nirjuli police filed an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officers tracked the suspect to his home in Sonapur after an investigation. Rahman worked as a labourer in the area before fleeing.

Superintendent of Police Dr. Nyelam Nega praised the victim for her bravery. He stated, "The survivor resisted the accused and reported the crime," adding that his department remains committed to ensuring safety for women in the region.
