Guwahati: Rupahihat Police in Assam's Nagaon district arrested 15 individuals during an overnight crackdown on regional theft-related crimes. The operation targeted multiple locations, including Garajan, Ambagan, Kawaimari, and Rupahihat, to dismantle local criminal networks.
Authorities stated the suspects are linked to a range of offenses, including the theft of cattle, water pumps, bicycles, and gold ornaments. Officials confirmed that the individuals involved have been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
The police department noted that the operation forms part of an intensified drive against property crimes in the region. Regarding the progress of the case, police said, "the accused have been forwarded to judicial custody, and investigations are underway to determine their involvement in additional theft cases and to recover stolen property."
The individuals taken into custody include Muklesur Rahman, Rahinur Alam, Rashidul Ahmed, Abdul Karim, Dildar Hussain, Nurul Islam, Jiabur Rahman, Helal, and Nurul Haque. Investigators are currently working to recover stolen valuables while assessing the extent of the group's criminal activities.
