Kohima: Power Minister K.G. Kenye gathered district officials in Phek on July 10 to demand tighter law enforcement and better planning. He told the assembly that officials must stop sitting on their hands. He urged members to show up and stay involved to make sure government programs actually work.

Security dominated the talk. Kenye warned police and local administrators to stay sharp because of Phek's proximity to unstable areas in Manipur. He noted that constant alertness was necessary to safeguard peace and security in the district. The board also stalled a controversial plan to build a radar at Pfutsero after locals pushed back. Kenye ordered the local administration to file a report so the state government can decide the next move.

Officials cleared new spending for the Local Area Development Programme for 2026-27. They also greenlit the registration of the Dawn Library Welfare Society in Chozuba. Farmers in the Razeba Range need help moving their cabbage crop, and the horticulture department is actively hunting for buyers to clear the backlog.
