One Dead, Eleven Injured in Moran Highway Crash

Guwahati: A head-on collision in Assam left one man dead and eleven people injured. The crash occurred July 5 in the Khatkhati area of Moran. A Swift Dzire slammed into an auto-rickshaw carrying twelve passengers.

Biren Bhumij of Sepan Tea Estate died at the scene. Five of the passengers suffered critical injuries. Local residents and ambulance crews rushed the victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The car carried four people. None of them reported injuries. Moran Police Officer-in-Charge Dantejit Deori arrived on the scene to oversee the investigation and clear the highway. A crane removed both wrecked vehicles to get traffic moving again.

Police detained the driver of the Swift Dzire for questioning. Officials are currently looking into whether speed or negligence caused the accident. Police said both vehicles suffered extensive damage in the crash.
