NSCN-IM Accuses ZUF-J of Highway Extortion and Attacks

Imphal: The NSCN-IM claims the Zeliangrong United Front is breaking its ceasefire deal with the Indian government. The group alleges that ZUF-J members are shaking down drivers and demanding illegal taxes on National Highway-37. Tensions boiled over when the NSCN-IM fired warning shots at Kaiphundai on June 26. They say they held their fire for months to stop a bloodbath.

Intelligence from the NSCN-IM Office of the Central Administrative Officer points to a March 20 move where security forces allegedly transported ZUF-J fighters from Khoupum to Old Agro Mile. The outfit claims these fighters attacked a local outpost the next day. These men never returned to their base at Mount Ararat as the ceasefire rules demand.

The NSCN-IM views the ZUF-J as a government proxy designed to kill the Naga political movement. They claim this rival group uses the call for a Zeliangrong Homeland to trick local people. The NSCN-IM now demands that all regional groups back the 2015 Framework Agreement. They insist that the Naga conflict requires a singular path forward. The outfit stated that the ongoing political struggle "could be resolved through the principle of One Talk, One Agreement."
