Imphal: A delegation from the National People’s Party visited the border villages of Choro, Namlee, and Wanglee on May 19. The team, led by General Secretary Lakpachui Siro, traveled to the region to assess the impact of an alleged attack by the Kuki National Army–Burma that took place on May 7.

The party representatives distributed essential relief items to local families, including blankets, sugar, dal, milk, tea, biscuits, and cooking oil. During their visit, the delegation met with residents and local authorities to hear firsthand accounts of the incident and the ongoing struggles facing the community.

Villagers expressed significant anxiety regarding their safety and asked the government to implement urgent security measures. Many residents remain displaced and unwilling to return to their homes without the protection of established police stations or security outposts in the area. Local leaders also called for prompt government action on compensation and rehabilitation efforts. The NPP team promised to relay these demands to the state and central governments to ensure the concerns of the border communities are addressed.
