Shillong: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will visit Shillong on June 15 to inaugurate several national highway projects and participate in a high-level infrastructure summit. These efforts aim to boost regional connectivity and solidify the economic potential of Northeast India.

During his visit, Gadkari will join the CEOs Round Table at the North East India Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition. This event gathers policymakers and investors to explore growth opportunities in sectors such as urban development, energy, and logistics. Organisers aim to position the region as a primary destination for future capital.

The minister will perform a foundation stone-laying ceremony at Polo Ground for new highway initiatives. Officials noted that these projects are designed to enhance local transport networks, as they are expected to "strengthen road connectivity within Meghalaya and improve links with other northeastern states."

By reducing travel times and easing the movement of goods, the government expects these upgrades to stimulate trade and tourism. This visit reflects a broader national strategy to prioritize infrastructure as the foundation for growth and regional integration across the Northeast.
