Itanagar: NITI Aayog hosted its first dedicated interaction with leadership from all eight North Eastern states in New Delhi on Friday. The meeting brought together Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries to discuss development priorities and the region's increasing importance to the national economy.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu attended the event, which was chaired by NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri. Representing Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, officials engaged in constructive talks regarding innovation and regional challenges.
Reflecting on the meeting, Khandu stated, "This is the first time NITI Aayog has convened such a dedicated interaction with the North East, underscoring the region's growing significance in India's development trajectory." He noted that the region is currently undergoing a major transformation and is becoming a key engine for growth.
Khandu highlighted Arunachal Pradesh's potential in the hydropower sector and called for improved capacity building for human resources. He also showcased the state's governance initiatives, including Sarkar Aapke Dwar and Seva Aapke Dwar, which aim to improve public service delivery.
In closing, NITI Aayog member Joram Aniya acknowledged the feedback from state leaders. The organization pledged to continue working with central ministries to support the specific developmental needs of the North Eastern region.
