Itanagar: The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited has issued a public warning regarding potential water releases from the Pare Reservoir in Arunachal Pradesh. Heavy rainfall in the Pare River catchment area has caused rising water levels, forcing the Pare Hydro Power Station in Doimukh to prepare for controlled discharges to maintain the dam's structural integrity.

Deputy General Manager Taba Gagung stated that the reservoir level may reach 245.15 metres above mean sea level. To manage this volume, the facility may gradually release water through its radial gates. The corporation noted that in the event of extreme weather, the dam operators may be forced to act quickly, stating that in case of flash floods or sudden inflows, "all gates of the dam may be opened without prior notice to facilitate emergency discharge and prevent any threat to dam structure and surrounding areas."

NEEPCO has requested local authorities and community leaders to circulate this information to residents living near the reservoir and downstream. The public is strictly advised to avoid riverbanks, while livestock owners should keep their animals at a safe distance from the water to prevent accidents. The corporation emphasized that individuals who ignore these warnings and enter restricted zones will be held responsible for any resulting risks.
